Welcome! This web site is a resource for my students at Chabot College providing access to homework assignments and test study guides for the courses that I’m teaching this semester.
As long as you're here I might as well share with you a bit about my background and interests. I'm a third generation native Californian and have lived my entire life in the East Bay. I grew up in Castro Valley, graduating from Castro Valley High School well before most of my students were born. After a false start at Cal State Hayward straight out of high school, it took a couple of years of low paying physical labor jobs before I figured out that college probably wasn't such a bad idea after all. I went back to school at Chabot College with the intention of earning a technical degree and entering the work force, but I was having so much fun that I just kept on going. Here's a summary of my education:
Master of Science Degree, Mathematics, Cal State Hayward 1987
Bachelor of Science Degree, Computer Science, Cal State Hayward, 1984
Associate of Arts Degree, Computer Maintenance Technology, Chabot College, 1982
The career path that I've taken since completing my formal education includes a few twists and turns, but has always included an outlet for my passion for teaching mathematics. I began teaching at Chabot on a part-time basis in 1988, and in the fall of 2002 I realized a long term dream of mine by becoming a full-time faculty member. My work experience also includes 13 years as a Computer Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and a very exciting 4 years amidst the chaos of the dot-com gold rush as a Java Programming Tutor for an e-learning company.
When I'm not teaching you'll probably find me out riding my bicycle in the East Bay hills. I also enjoy reading and listening to music.
Thanks for visiting. I look forward to a great semester!
